Trade Risk

Margin alone is a poor proxy for how many futures contracts to hold. Trade Risk is one signed-in desk: the journal of fills and the risk view that scores that book by notional, indicative margin, and typical daily dollar move — so a 2–3% coffee day shows up as thousands of dollars, not a harmless percent.

One desk

/trade_logs and /trades mount the same Vite/React app. Risk and Journal are tabs. The selected log is sticky via ?trade_log_id= (and localStorage). Switching tabs updates the path without sending you into Chat.

  • Risk — starting balance, live + hypothetical positions, dollar shocks, on-page AI review.
  • Journal — fills for that log (new, import, close, scale in). Open futures become the live book.

What Risk does

  • Multiple trade logs per user, each with a starting balance (a portfolio).
  • Open fills from the journal become positions. Hypothetical adds and trims are modeled in memory only.
  • Per product: notional, indicative initial margin, typical daily $, 1×/2× shock, and % of account equity.
  • AI review stays on this page. Signed-in accounts get 10 reviews (not chat messages). Starter includes 100 per month. Analysis only — it does not place desk paper orders.

What it is not

  • Not live SPAN or broker margin. Margins are ContractMargin rows, set by hand in admin today; a future job will parse CME/ICE files without overwriting manual overrides.
  • Not financial advice. Shocks assume independent daily ranges (no correlation VaR).
  • Not Archie Desk execution and not a research chat thread. Reviews render on Trade Risk.
