Archie Desk

Safety and limits

The desk is designed so a model cannot invent a fill, move a hard stop by hand, or send a live order without a human. Prefer skip and hold when evidence is thin.

Not financial advice

Archie Desk is an educational paper book. Nothing on the desk is a recommendation to buy or sell a security or futures contract. You are responsible for your own research and risk.

Paper first

  • The platform account starts in paper mode with $100,000 notional cash.
  • The Golden Cross Trend pack is paper-only. Fills update paper_positions and paper_fills.
  • Archie must call propose_decision. The model cannot claim it placed an order.

Live-gated is still gated

If an account or pack is marked live_gated, a passed decision is queued for human approval instead of filling immediately. Approving records a paper fill so the book stays consistent and writes that a human approved a live-gated intent. A broker order is not auto-sent.

Rules the model cannot override

  • Kill switch — when on, new execution is rejected.
  • Hard stop — default 8% from entry. The hourly monitor exits in code when the mark crosses the stop.
  • Time stop — default 60 calendar days from entry for Golden Cross Trend.
  • Risk caps — max positions, max notional, and max daily entries are checked before a proposal can execute.
  • Already open — a second golden cross on the same name is skipped unless the pack allows scale-in.
  • Review quorum — Golden Cross Trend requires majority agreement. A designated news veto can block the trade.

Watcher limits

Free accounts cannot create watcher slots. Paid Research accounts can create up to 10. Admins share the paid limit. The weekday watcher job also scans a small popular commodity universe without consuming a personal slot.

Language we use

Safe phrasing: “paper fill,” “proposed,” “skipped,” “review failed,” “worth watching.” Avoid: “Archie bought this for you,” “guaranteed,” “the model placed a live order,” or treating a golden cross as a must-enter signal.
