"summary": "The video discusses the recent rebound in spot silver prices after a sell-off triggered by hotter-than-expected US inflation data. While initial market expectations for a Fed rate hike in October surged, they have since moderated, with a December hike now more likely. The speaker attributes silver's recovery to falling Treasury yields and a rotation out of the tech sector into safer assets like Treasuries, which also weakened the US dollar, making precious metals more attractive.",

"transcript": "Spot Silver has rebounded off 2026 low around 55.40 to current levels of around 56.80. So up around 2% on the day. Now we saw this decline to that 2026 low, testing those low levels after US inflation data came in hotter than expected yesterday. We saw CPI headline CPI up at 3.7%. Core CPI was also hotter than expected at 2.6% year on year. Now this suggests that not only is higher energy prices driving inflation, but we're actually seeing a more sort of broader based price pressures, which saw the market upwardly revise Fed rate hike expectations quite sharply following the data. We saw a jump from 20% expectation of a rate hike in October, jumped around 45% post data. Now that has actually come down since following Fed speaker where we heard some comments that suggested that really the Fed wasn't looking to hike interest rates in October, but were potentially looking at a December hike. As a result, the market's still pricing in around an 87% probability that the Fed will hike rates in December. Now obviously higher interest rates, higher yields on treasuries, takes the shine off precious metals, which is why we saw that sell-off in silver yesterday, dropped around 6%. We'll also saw gold sell off sharply, but we are seeing a recovery as I mentioned today, a bounce of around 2%. And that is because we've seen treasury yields come lower. Now this has been a factor of several drivers. Firstly, oil prices have come off, but secondly, we're seeing this sell-off in the tech sector. So across the globe, you know, we saw the Kospi come down around 7%. We've seen the Nasdaq futures are down one down around 1% following concerns after Anthropic released Q3 revenue growth, which was a little bit softer than what the market was expecting. So that's raised concerns about the um the AI trade, which has been very strong, that has recently experienced some volatility. We're seeing those sort of safe haven flows now as we see a rotation out of the tech sector into treasuries, um which with their yield that has been at sort of, you know, multi-decade highs are looking relatively attractive. So the yield on the 10-year Treasury is actually come down below 5.1% today, down from let's just remember around 5.3, 4% um just at the beginning of October. Um so a a sort of a a reasonably significant decline in a short period of time, which is helping um boost demand for non-yielding assets. Also bringing the US dollar off an 18-month high that it had been trading at, um which again is making um precious metals such as silver more attractive as it's cheaper for buyers of foreign currency. So if we just have a look at the chart, what's going on in the technical picture here, we can see that actually the picture is still looking um relatively vulnerable. I mean, we've seen this downtrend, silver trades below its falling trend line, below its 50 and its 200 EMA. Just testing that support that we talked about there, the 55.40 level, a level that was last seen back in July um 2026 and sort of, you know, hovering around the lows for the year. Now, if we do see a break below that level, um then sellers are going to be looking towards the $50 level as the next logical target, that's a psychological um level before we look towards 45, and that was a level that was last seen in October 2025. Um on the upside, any recovery and should that support hold, we'll be looking for a rise above the um the 50 EMA at around $63 and the 200 EMA at around just over um $65. Now if we get a rise above there, that could put um the pricing on a more stable footing, turning attention towards $70. Not only is that the high that we saw in August, but it's also the falling trend line resistance, so a break above there would be significant, changing the outlook to much more constructive. "description": "The silver price rebounded around 2% from its 2026 low as Treasury yields fell, the U.S. dollar eased and a tech selloff fueled safe haven flows.\n\nFiona Cincotta, StoneX Senior Market Analyst, explains how inflation data, Federal Reserve rate hike expectations and Treasury yields are moving silver.\n\nSilver dropped around 6% after U.S. CPI inflation came in hotter than expected, with core prices pointing to broader price pressures and markets now pricing around an 87% chance of a Federal Reserve rate hike in December. Higher rate expectations weigh on non-yielding precious metals, but a tech selloff sparked by softer Anthropic revenue growth sent investors into Treasuries and pulled the 10-year yield sharply lower. Silver still trades below its falling trendline and its 50 and 200 EMAs.\n\nDiscover Actionable Insights with the latest Market Outlook Reports: https://intel.stonex.com/offer?language=en&campaignId=A908C315-DC62-4F35-AC16-870BB71E84D1&utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sxtv_guest_fiona_cincotta&utm_content=share\n\n00:00 - Hot CPI Drags Silver to Lows\n00:33 - Fed Hike Odds Jump, Then Shift\n01:31 - Yields Ease, Silver Rebounds\n01:51 - AI Jitters Fuel a Bond Rush\n02:58 - Silver Downtrend Still Intact\n03:22 - The Trendline Test for Silver\n\nLike and subscribe for more financial market insights.\n\n#Silver #StoneX #FionaCincotta #PreciousMetals\n\n---------\n\nLike this video?
