"summary": "The natural gas market is experiencing a \"rollercoaster\" of weather patterns, with a mix of warm and cold fronts across the US, Europe, and Asia. While current natural gas prices for the November contract are down, improved LNG feed gas and fluctuating weather are key drivers. Storage levels in the UK and EU are being monitored, with the UK's Rough storage at zero and EU storage at almost 74% full. The speaker anticipates a volatile winter due to these weather dynamics.",

"transcript": "Good morning, natural gas. It's Wednesday, October the 14th, 2026. I'm Tim Beggins, President of Elk Trading Company. And for the spot November contract, we're down. We're currently trading at 3.21 and a half, down 6.8 cents or over 2%. As you can see, we're holding still above the 13 and 48 period exponential moving averages, but the RSI is turning lower. And we'll keep a careful eye on this in just a second. The storage numbers for tomorrow, averaging between +74, +76. This goes up against last year's +80 and the five-year average of +90. So, what's driving this? Well, improved LNG feed gas, which has come off a little bit today, but also too, some wild gyrating weather here, especially in the mid-section of the country here. In particular here, St. Louis going to be record territory for heat today, and then drops 55 degrees. So, interesting times here before blowtorch warmth comes right back in, and that's what's reflective of the price action. But as you can see, take a look at what you can do here with the 13 and 48 period exponential moving averages. If you wanted to, drop it down to the one-hour time frame. And as you can see, you picked up that big jump here yesterday, and then you were out here on these, one of these two bars here, as it broke down through the 13 period exponential moving average. So, a minimum here, you captured 8 cents, possibly 12 cents here on just dropping it down to the one-hour time frame. So, let's talk about the one-hour time frame, and this is with the pivots here. And as you can see right now, the RSI is in oversold condition right here, and it is right around the daily pivot, which came in at 3.24 today. We're holding above first support, which comes in at 3.1510. So, what we'll do is we'll expect to see if it can come down toward that first support, and then start to bounce. Let's take a look at the 6 to 10 day temperature outlook. And there it is. There's the above normal temperatures. This chimney effect from Texas all the way back up into the upper plains. But look, there's below normal temperatures out west, near normal in New England. And that is the same theme as we go forward into the 8 to 14 day temperature outlook. Remember, super El Niño means we average warmer than normal. It does not mean we have an absence of cold. And if anything, this is going to be a rollercoaster winter. Let's take a look at the Dec-Jan here. And as you can see right now, the Dec-Jan spread here is up four ticks right now to 39.3 cents. And as you can see, I've marked out what a normal winter is. The carrying cost is around 25 cents. That's the implied cost for storage. But with super El Niño putting pressure on the front end of the board, the spread is widened out. The RSI right now is still turning to the upside here. So, we'll look to see if this spread widens out a little bit. Let's take a look at the weather models here, and this is what's going on. We're looking at the European model here. And as you can see, very warm through the central part of the country. Yep, here in Houston, it's pretty hot. And it will continue to stay that way for a few days, but look at the cooler weather coming in. Down through Calgary into uh, Denver area here. And then look at the Northeast. We're starting to see some cooler temperatures coming in off the Great Lakes, the eastern side, down Appalachia here, into New England, into the Mid-Atlantic states. And look at the temperatures here on the 17th. That's right. St. Louis, 46 degrees, right? It was just going to be possibly 93 today. So, that's pretty big shift here from Wednesday to Saturday. And it warms right back out here. As you can see right there, we are starting to push back into the 70s and possibly up into the 80s here as we push into the forecast here late. And there is that cooler temperature coming in at the back end of the forecast here. This is the 26th. Look at the cool air coming in directly in from Alberta, down into the West Coast here, interior Rockies here. Hopefully, it'll get some moisture. It's been pretty, pretty dry. But look at the South. The South stays warm throughout this period. Let's take a look at Europe. And there's a mixed bag here as well. It got a little warmer overnight for Spain, uh, Spain and France, and Germany here. So, as you can see, it gets a little bit of cooler weather coming in on the 18th. But then that warmth comes in, not the cool air we were looking for on the 22nd and 23rd. They've pulled that back out. Their cooler temperatures stick to the eastern side of Europe here. And that is Turkey, Greece, Ukraine, Poland. And then, as you can see, Turkey is quite cold on the 28th. So, watch out, the weather forecaster gyrating globally here. We're going to be up and down all winter long in the US, Europe, and Asia. And let's take a look at Europe here. This is the Dutch TTF contract for January, and this is in euros per megawatt hour. And as you can see, we've got a little bit of a decline today, down 1.68%. RSI is trying to turn lower right now from near record highs here for this contract. And let's take a look at the UK. And I'm going to shift over here one second. There we are. And there is where our supply is coming in from Norway. A little bit from LNG. Where's it going out? Nothing is going to the Netherlands. Yes, there's a little bit going to Belgium. Yes, there's a little bit going to Ireland. But the rest of it is staying internal and going into storage. They can use it. That's right, because right now, they're sitting right now about 40, uh, about 41% full. So, we'll see. Let's, gas storage 25%, LNG storage almost 16%. So, that's great news. But again, Rough storage, which represents 54% of total UK storage, is zero and likely to remain that way. Let's take a look at European across the the EU. It's almost 74% full. Injections are starting to fall off a little bit here. We may see 76, 77% by the time we finish this month. That will be okay because there are, let's turn to the EU individual countries here. Austria and Belgium below 70%. Germany, the big dog, 60% full. Latvia 50%. Netherlands 63%. And as we talked about, the Ukraine is sitting around 41% full. That's good news here, not reflective of this particular map. Let's take a look at the E, uh, the US LNG. Cameron LNG, 1.456. That's steady. It could improve here. And let's take a look at improvement. There's Freeport. That's right. It's up to 1.823. Fantastic news. Finally coming out of that week-long maintenance. How about uh, Creole Trail, one of the pipelines that feeds Sabine Pass, running 1.45. Could improve a little bit further here. And there is Corpus Christi, running 2.54 right now. That's good news out of 2.75. Should start to ramp up here as the weather starts to cool. Eventually. And here is Calcasieu Pass for Venture Global, running 1.552. So, that's a little bit of a decrease right there. And there is Plaquemines, running over 4 BCF. So, also a little bit of a decline from yesterday. The good news here, that's right. Golden Pass. Triple 6, uh, 200 MMBtu's into Train 1. That's great news. We need to get it up toward 800 to 850,000 MMBtu's nameplate capacity. And let's take a look. There is the Middle East here. Strait of Hormuz. We still had attacks yesterday. There is still some tankers being hit by unknown projectiles, right? Drones, potentially, or even mines. And let's take a look at Ras Laffan, because there is absolutely nothing loading there right now. How about uh, Asia? Let's turn to Asia here. And there is some cooler weather coming in through Beijing right now, into uh, Japan and the Koreas here. You could start seeing some cooler weather coming in through Mongolia here, pushing off some of the heat. There is a little bit of warmth in Southern China right now. It is staying fairly modest in India. And as you go through the forecast, it really starts to warm up here on the 24th here, pushing into the 27th. And then finally, some cold weather starts to push it out to sea on the 28th. Let's take a look at the weather in Asia right now. It is Tokyo 68 degrees, Beijing 64, New Delhi 86 degrees. We've got some uh, hurricanes here. We'll take a look first at the weather here. There is some moisture coming into India here. That would be good news for them. Let's take a look at the trackers for the uh, hurricanes right now. And as you can see, we've got this one in particular here. We've got 28, which is pushing off to the Northwest here. We've got 36W, pushing off toward Northern Philippines toward uh, Taiwan right now. Let's turn to the Eastern Pacific. And we've got Simon. Simon is heading right there. It is heading up toward Baja California. May impact the weather again in Southern California and Arizona. We've got Trudy now. She is named. And it is pushing up in the wake of Simon. So, she's following along, tagging along, heading up toward Baja California. How about uh, US nuclear? The fleet, it is currently running right now at 19.4 gigawatts are offline, compared to last year's 20.9 gigawatts. But again, this is helping boost natural gas demand, especially as these cooler temperatures start to move in. And let's take a look at the Gulf. And the Gulf is quiet. That's right. There is absolutely nothing going on there. And the Mid-Atlantic, nothing is expected for the next 7 days. So, we may have had our one and only hurricane of the Atlantic season, and that's it. And let's take a look at the teleconnections, because the AO and NAO jumped up yesterday here, but the PNA is also staying in positive territory. What does that mean? It means we can get cooler weather into the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Great Lakes states. Let's see what happens. And there is that cooler weather up on the Arctic here. And as you can see, really, it is starting to push into Eastern Canada. It is coming down through Alberta toward the Rockies here, into Denver. And of course, there's Alaska filling up with some colder weather there. You can see there is some high pressure systems here, uh, Gulf of Alaska here, and of course, off of Greenland, we're getting. So, that is starting to affect the jet stream. And here is the Arctic ice build-up here. It is doing quite well on the Canadian side. The Russian side is still light for this time of year against the 30-year average. How about stocks in the oil and gas sector? Stocks between 2 and 10 billion dollars have a high short float, over 10%. And as you can see, it's a sea of red right now. Everybody's in the red. Matador behind me, down 0.09%. So, recapping here for the spot November contract, we're currently down. We're currently trading at 3.203, down 8 cents or 2.44%. Storage is expected to be around +75 BCF, against last year's +80 and the five-year average of +90 BCF. But all this price action is about the gyrating rollercoaster weather we're about to enter into. Let's hope we can keep our seatbelts on. Let us know your thoughts, and please hit that uh, like and subscribe button. Thanks for listening. We'll see you tomorrow.",
