"transcript": "The Euro-dollar staged a modest recovery on Tuesday after dropping for the fifth consecutive week last week. So, is this a temporary bounce or are we finally seeing the foundations of a new move higher? Well, for what it is worth, I think it's the former, and in this video, I'll explain why. Hello traders, Fawad Razaqzada here, StoneX Market Analyst. The US dollar fell on Tuesday as oil prices and bond yields eased back, giving back a chunk of the gains made on Monday. But I wouldn't read too much into today's dollar pullback. The US CPI report is due tomorrow, so markets are likely to remain relatively cautious ahead of the data release. What's more, nothing has changed fundamentally to justify a reversal in the US dollar's trend just yet. And with military activity in the Middle East still elevated, any renewed rise in crude oil prices could quickly bring back US dollar bulls. So, as mentioned, US inflation will be the main macro event this week, and it may well trigger some short-term volatility across the major FX pairs, and the data is released on Wednesday. Markets are expecting the core CPI to come in at 0.2% month-over-month, taking the annual rate to 2.5%. Headline inflation, meanwhile, is expected to accelerate to 3.6%. Given that expectations are already fairly defined, we may need to see a meaningful surprise to trigger a strong dollar move. Thus, if the numbers come in broadly as expected, the initial reaction could be fairly limited. Now, ahead of the CPI release, the dollar was still supported by relatively hawkish expectations for the Fed policy, while positioning data continues to show preference for long dollar bets against major currencies, in particular, the Euro. While the long dollar trade looks somewhat crowded now, that alone isn't necessarily a reason to expect a reversal. On the Euro side, meanwhile, the picture remains far from convincing. Markets are already fully pricing in a December ECB rate hike, leaving very little room for further hawkish repricing. Meanwhile, concerns surrounding French government finances continue to weigh on sentiment towards the single currency. So, fundamentally, the backdrop remains challenging for the Euro-dollar. But what about the technical outlook? Well, looking at the daily chart, the bearish trend is quite clear to observe on this timeframe, and indeed, any other timeframe that you choose. The pair has now fallen for five consecutive weeks, and for that reason alone, longer-term momentum remains firmly negative. That means I would treat today's rebound as a counter-trend move unless the Euro-dollar can reclaim some important resistance levels with a powerful rally, and that too on the back of some bearish dollar macro factor. For now, that appears unlikely, and as such, I'm expecting the first area of resistance around the 1.1215 to around 1.1220 zone to hold. This area has previously acted as support but has now turned into resistance. A sustained move above it, therefore, would be an encouraging sign for the bulls and could open the door towards the more significant resistance in the 1.1325 to 1.1355 zone. But for now, the downside remains the more likely path. Should the selling resume, then the first target is around 1.1150, where liquidity sits below the recent lows. A break below that would expose the 1.1100 handle, followed by the 1.1085. And if the selling pressure really accelerates from there, the bigger downside target would be the psychologically important 1.1000 level. So, for now, my Euro-dollar forecast remains modestly bearish. The upcoming US CPI data could provide the next catalyst, with the bigger drivers remaining the bond market and crude oil prices. Thanks for watching. If you found this analysis useful, please like the video and subscribe to the channel, and I'll see you in the next video. Take care.",
