"summary": "The analyst discusses how renewed US-Iran tensions have supported crude oil prices and pushed US bond yields higher, creating short-term pullback risks for US indices. While the Nasdaq shows some resilience, the Dow Jones is experiencing 5-month lows. US Treasury yields are testing historical resistance levels and showing overbought conditions, suggesting a potential near-term pullback across yields and equities before a possible long-term bull run resumes.",

"transcript": "Renewed US-Iran tensions have supported crude oil prices and pushed US bond yields higher, pressuring US indices as they test new record highs. The rise in yields is currently testing historical resistance and overbought momentum conditions, potentially pressuring US indices into a short-term pullback risk. That consolidation may help reset equity momentum ahead of mega-cap earnings later this month and US midterm elections at the beginning of November. Hello everyone, this is Razan Hilal, Market Analyst with forex.com and StoneX Media, live from Dubai. Today is October 8th, 2026. Now, in line with the short-term pullback risk and long-term bull run narrative across US indices, in line with the previously mentioned steep momentum risks across US Treasury yield charts, a quick look on the crude oil charts from a Brent crude oil perspective, a daily timeframe here, we can clearly see the bullish rebound in line with renewed US-Iran tensions. However, that bullish rebound may be only short-term or take place within a broader corrective pattern, in line with the highs of September 2026, near the 108 resistance. Price action is currently approaching a short-term resistance barrier aligning with or connecting consecutive higher highs between September 24 and October 1st, 2026, near the 104 mark and the 105.40 resistance zone. A clear breakout above this level would likely target the 108 barrier once again, a key barrier that may define between another escalation path for the markets and risk-on narrative, in line with renewed inflation concerns, capping risk-on sentiment or another potential pullback, confirming the broader corrective cycle spanning from March 2026. Now, on the downside, should we have a pullback from the 104 mark, another sustainable breakdown below 99 and 96, we can revisit the 93 level, which remains a key defining barrier or support for the crude oil chart. That may open the path for or increase confidence for a broader de-escalation phase, possibly supporting the risk-on appetite across US indices. Now, in terms of the Nasdaq chart, we can clearly see a pullback risk from the 31,300 high and bearish divergence and overbought momentum risks from June FOMC and June 2026 highs on the RSI indicator, opening path for a potential pullback risk on the horizon, in line with rising US 10-year Treasury yields and the rebound across crude oil prices. Where price action is still situated within a bullish zone above the 30,700 mark, should we have a sustainable breakdown below this level, we can be looking at potential steeper pullback risks, possibly aligning with Fibonacci retracement levels of the overall advance between September 28 and October 6th, with key potential short-term support levels near 30,600, 30,300, and the 30,000 psychological mark, for either another potential longer-term dip buying opportunity or open the path for deeper distress for the Nasdaq chart, or across the fourth quarter of 2026. Now, on the upside, should we have a rebound for price action from the 30,800 support, back above the 31,300 mark, in alignment with the Fibonacci extension of the overall cycle spanning between September 17, the high of September 23, and the low of September 28, we can be looking at the next potential key resistance zone, near the 78.6%, that's near 31,700. Breakout above 31,700 would likely jump towards the 32,000 threshold, near the 32,100 mark for another potential short-term pullback risk. However, the higher Nasdaq, the Nasdaq's price structure goes, we can be looking at a sustainable long-term bull run. Now, unlike the resilience seen across the AI and tech stocks, the elevated bond yield environment seems to be weighing more heavily on the Dow Jones chart and cyclical sectors, as we have or as price action currently trades near 5-month lows or near price levels last seen in June 2026. And unlike the overbought momentum conditions seen on the Nasdaq chart, we have relative oversold conditions seen on the Dow Jones chart, approaching levels last seen in March 2026. Now, we do have some more room to go before reaching the extreme seen in March. However, it may be pointing towards a short-term drawdown risk before a long-term rebound or bullish rebound continues on the Dow Jones chart, as it approaches a key support and invalidation zone between the 50,300 and the 50,200 mark. A breakdown below this level would likely open the path for steeper corrective risks and likely open as well or increase confidence to a longer-term bearish outlook on the Dow Jones chart, where we may have potential short-term bullish rebound risks near the 49,000 mark for projecting further lows on the chart. Now, on the upside, should we have a sustainable hold for or rebound for the Dow Jones chart back above 51,600 and the 51,900 mark. These levels align with the Fibonacci extension ratios of the overall cycle spanning between May 18, August 5th, and the potential low that we're currently approaching, which is the 78.6% of that overall wave near 50,200. We may be looking at a key resistance zone between 51,900 and 51,700 and the 51,900 near the 27.2% extension. Breakout above this level would likely increase bullish confidence for a rebound across the Dow Jones chart, possibly targeting the next key resistance level near 52,500, 53,200, and the 53,800 near the golden 61.8%, where we may be aligned once again with the lower bound of the uptrending support that connected consecutive higher highs between April and September 2026. We can face either another shorter, a longer-term pullback risk or confirm the realignment of the Dow Jones chart towards record. So we may be looking at potential sector rotation here with overbought risk on the Nasdaq, oversold risks on the Dow Jones chart. However, price action confirming or confirming the price direction level by level would likely be the best way to go. Now, analyzing US Treasury yields, starting with the 10-year Treasury chart from a 3-months timeframe perspective, we can clearly see the stretched chart testing a critical historical barrier respected since the 1920s, serving as both a support and resistance for the chart. And we can currently see the chart approaching that barrier from below, which may be shedding the light on a significant resistance zone, as the chart also tests highs last seen in 2001 near the 5.36%. Now, a sustainable hold above 5.4% would likely open the path for another risk-off wave across the markets and another bullish wave for the US 10-year Treasury yields. However, in line with bearish divergence for the RSI between 2022 and 2026, from overbought levels last seen in the 1980s, we may be looking at a potential near-term pullback risk from these highs. As the overbought momentum risks are not only seen on the 3-month timeframe, we can also see that from a monthly timeframe perspective, and from a daily timeframe perspective as well, from a steeper manner as well, in line with the bearish divergence with the price action. Now, in terms of the US 30-year Treasury yields, also from a 3-months timeframe, we can see price action currently hovering near the 50% retracement of the overall drawdown between the highs of 1987 and the lows of 2020. And that's also near the 5.7%. In line with historical as well, RSI overbought RSI conditions and bearish divergence between 2023 and 2026, from a monthly perspective, we can also see that overbought momentum risk from a daily perspective as well in a steeper manner, also possibly opening the path for a near-term pullback risk across Treasury yields. In terms of the 3-year Treasury yields, we can also see price action currently tracing a short-term pullback risk, as the longer-term wave approaches a key resistance level respected in 2023 and in 2006, in line with the overbought momentum conditions from both a monthly and now the daily timeframe is already within a bearish reversal path. But in line with the narrative seen on the 10-year Treasury yields and the 30-year Treasury yields, we may be approaching a potential near-term pullback risk across yields. Should that be aligned with a brief bullish rebound across crude oil prices and a brief period of tensions between the US and Iran, ahead of the US midterm elections, possibly supporting the broader narrative for a near-term pullback risk across US indices before the long-term bull run resumes.",
