Production is down due to pipeline maintenance, providing a boost despite disappointing LNG. ERCOT demand is high, relying heavily on natural gas due to low wind generation. European storage is filling, but some countries still face issues. Weather forecasts show cooler temperatures pushing into the US Midwest and Northeast, while the Southeast remains warm. The speaker notes potential short-covering rallies in natural gas spreads due to oversold conditions and discusses US LNG export activity and nuclear outages.",

"transcript": "Good morning, natural gas. It's Tuesday, October the 6th, 2026. I'm Tim Beggins, President of Elk Trading Company. And for the spot November contract, we're up. We're currently trading at 3.12, up 5.4 cents or almost 1.8%. And as you can see, we're above the 13 and 48-period exponential moving averages. The RSI is crossing to the upside, although it is fairly flat. What's going on? Production. Production's down a little bit here with some pipeline maintenance. And so, we've got a little bit of a boost here, even as LNG has disappointed in spaces. So, let's take a look at what's going on for the hourly chart. And there you are. We're above the daily pivot. We're above first resistance as well. The daily pivot came in today at 3.0490. We're above first resistance at 3.10. Secondary resistance 3.13 and a half, and then about that 3.1860. The RSI has turned to the upside on the hourly chart. So, we've got a little bit of a momentum here today. That's good news here. We've held the daily pivot and tested through first support. That's great news. Let's take a look at what's going on in ERCOT. And system-wide demand today, over 71,000. That's right. It's a revision to the day-ahead forecast here. That's good news because the renewables right now are going to be peaking out just over 35,000 megawatts of available generation capacity. But as you can see, wind is quite low right now. Wind is only picking up about 4,230 megawatts right now, only 8% of the fuel mix. But natural gas is picking up almost 41%, 21,433. Solar is starting to ramp up, so that's taking up a big portion of the fuel mix right now. But again, wind is going to remain fairly light, so as solar comes off, natural gas will have to pick up the generation mix. Let's take a look at the national grid. So, behind me, the SPP is expected to be near 148 today. Uh, right here, PJM's supposed to be 139. And then behind me, MISO up to again the same, about $140 here. And with natural gas picking up later this afternoon, yes, ERCOT is expected to be near $100 per megawatt. That's right. Because as the wind is remaining light, natural gas has to pick up the generation mix, and that is going to send prices up this evening around 6 PM. Let's take a look at the weather forecast. And as you can see right now, as we go through the forecast period here, we've got some cooler temperatures starting to push in through the Northern Rockies here. That's right, out of Canada here into down and over toward Denver, I should put it. And that is pushing out some of that colder air. Let's go back here. As you can see, colder air descending all the way down into Colorado, and some of it is actually making it into central, well, near the Central Valley of California here. That's good news to cool some of that down. But again, look at the heat. It is still remaining from Texas all the way over toward New York City. And as we move through the forecast period here, that cooler weather pushes that warmth temperatures out toward the Southeast, and really it's just locked it into the Southeast. There we are on the 19th. As we push into the 20th, we're getting some cooler weather up here in New England, into the Mid-Atlantic states here. Look at these 40-degree temperatures here in the morning as we wake up here. Cooler than that up in Wyoming, 14 degrees there. That's impressive right now, just into the first week of October. So, as we get to the end of the forecast period here, you can see the heat is locked into Southern Arizona, back up through the Central Valley of California. But cooler air is coming in from Calgary straight down into Denver, and there is some cooler air pushing into New England. And let's take a look at the 6-10 day temperature outlook. Below normal temperatures up there, that's right, all the way up in Montana. Near normal along the coasts here. And the above normal temperatures, again, locked into Eastern Texas back over toward Florida. This continues in the 8-14 day temperature outlook. But as you can see, look at the cooler temperatures now starting to come into the Upper Midwest, all the way over to New England. And the above normal temperatures are either on the West Coast or in the Deep South. Let's take a look at the front-to-back spreads. This is Jan versus November contract. And as you can see, we're still pushing lower here on this particular spread here. This is one of the injection spreads here. We're down six, uh, seven ticks, excuse me, here to 63.6 cents here. And you're still below the 13-period exponential moving averages. So, you got your crossover way back up here in August the 12th. We've remained below that 13-period exponential moving average, except for one bar. That's right. So, we use that as your trigger here if we're looking for any kind of short-covering rally. We need two closes above the 13-period exponential moving averages. And let's take a look at the April through October strip because, right, it's supposed to be super El Niño winter, which means we're going to end winter with too much gas, or at least that's the theory. And as you can see right here for April through October, yes, we do get a big push down. This is the 50-day exponential moving average here. And as you can see, we still stay below that, but there are these rallies here as we get too far away from the exponential moving average. We push out closer toward the average or test it. And as you can see, we're too far away from it right now, so we're up a little bit today. We're up just six ticks here to 2.93 and a half right now. The RSI is trying to turn to the upside. So, expect there might be a little bit of profit-taking, short-covering here in the next few days here as this starts to look a little bit oversold. And let's take a look at Europe. Now, it's 72.7% full. Injections are staying strong. They are getting nervous here. That means that we're probably going to get fairly close to about 76% full before the end of the month. That's good news. But overall, we've got still some problems out there. We still have problems in the United Kingdom. We still have problems in places like uh, the Netherlands, and the big dog here, Germany, 59% full. That's going to be a real big problem. The UK, Germany, and the Netherlands. Let's take a look at the weather though, and it is going to be fairly cool, uh, warm here for France right now. Cooler temperatures move in tomorrow, or excuse me, the 8th here. That pushes into Spain and France. Then we get waves of back and forth between heat and cooler temperatures here. And then we finish out with, look at these below normal temperatures down here. The Alps here, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, uh, looks like Albania and a few other countries there, Macedonia. Uh, therefore, we can see some cooler weather right there all the way out 20th into 21st. So, interesting that we're going to get some cooler temperatures there. Let's switch over here because we're going to talk about the UK gas storage, uh, situation right now. They're pulling from Norway and LNG. That's it. And they're putting a little bit of gas into storage, 10.98 thousand cubic meters here. They are not exporting to the Netherlands, but they're exporting to Belgium. So, also as well as Ireland. So, otherwise, injections are light. Let's take a look at the total gas storage, and that is 15.27% full from LNG, and gas stored 21.02%. So, we've got 35 and and basically 0.29% full. That's a little bit better than it shows in the other website, but we're still well below where it should be for this time of year, and rough storage continues to be zero. Let's take a look at Asia. There is still some cooler weather right now in the Koreas, Eastern China, and Japan. And then we get some warmer temperatures through Beijing. Then it warms up on the 10th here, and 11th, before cooler weather comes in through Mongolia, pushing out some of that warmth here. But again, it's a mixed bag, warm then cold, then warm then cold. And then it looks like at the back end here, look at all this warmth behind here. Right back here through Mongolia, up into Siberia. Watch out, this looks like it's going to be fairly warm going into the end of October. Let's take a look at the weather map out in Asia. As you can see, very little rain falling in India. Southeast India needs more rain here. Not going to get it right now. Where are the storm systems? They're pushing out past Japan here. We've got a couple others here to keep a careful eye on because they are they look like they're going to form here. There is Rachel, and there is the Bay of Campeche, which is firing up. So, let's take a look at the temperature outlook right here. And right now, Tokyo 68 degrees, Beijing 64 degrees. Nice nice beautiful fall weather. New Delhi here, 84 degrees. Not bad. And let's take a look at the US LNG. Let's switch, I'll switch back after this. Right now, we've got actually a vessel loading up here. Golden Pass has loaded seven vessels. This would probably be number eight here. Most of it's been going to Italy because Qatar has declared force majeure on Italy's Edison LNG import terminal. So, some of these cargos are backfilling for the Qataris because Qatar owns 70% of this facility. So, that just seems logical, right? Let's push back over here to the other side. Here we go. And here we are. There's Cameron LNG, 1.49, steady as she goes there. But there's the problem, Freeport. Freeport has been up and down for the last four days. And that has not changed even yesterday. So, we'll keep a careful eye on it. Right now, it looks pretty stable this morning, but let's see if that holds in the evening hours. Here is Creole Trail, one of the pipelines that feeds Sabine Pass, running 1.5 out of 1.7. That's steady as she goes. Here is Corpus Christi, running 2.528. That's pretty good. And here is Venture Global's Calcasieu Pass, running 1.665. That's steady as well. But down a little bit here at Plaquemines, under 4 BCF, 3.94. It's not much, but it is under 4 BCF. Again, they're looking to put this into commercial service right now, waiting for FERC approval. And here is Golden Pass. The same problem. 280,000 MMBtu's going into the facility right now. That's just not good enough. The commissioning continues to be very, very slow. Mechanically, Train 2 is supposed to be ready on the end of the year. Train 3, six months later. Hopefully, those will be better off than Train 1, which continues to have problems teething and getting up to commissioning speed. Let's take a look here at the Gulf. This is the Bay of Campeche. This system here is forming. We do have a system that has an 80 or 90% chance of probability here. Let's take a look. Right now, they've kicked it up to 90% of cyclone formation in the next seven days. So, we are going to see something here. It looks like formation is high, 90% probability, just in 48 hours. And where is it going? Well, you can tell, look at the train. It is heading over here toward Alabama and the Panhandle of Florida. That's right. It's just going to meander back over this way. Let's see what the model runs do later this afternoon. And here it is. There's the tropical hazards. It is right there in the Bay of Campeche, the Yucatan. And then there's nothing else out there at the end of October. And the water temperatures in the Gulf, 86 degrees. So, it's got plenty of fuel here to pick up and really ramp up into a storm. Maybe we might even get a hurricane. You never know. Let's take a look at the Saharan Air Layer. Yep, there's some more coming off Africa right now. The winds are a little weak though. It's not much of a plume, but it's just a little bit. How about the US nuclear fleet? It is running right now about 15.5 gigawatts are offline. Last year 18.6. But that is still in that wide five-year range. That's normal. These units need to go down for maintenance or refueling before winter arrives. So, we'll peak out sometime this month. And let's take a look at the El Niño. As you can see, there's that warmer temperatures below the surface here. SST, excuse me. And there's some cooler weather around Hawaii and pushing over toward the East Coast of the United States, and then just south of Baja. So, we'll keep an eye on this because we're all going to be watching the jet stream. See what it does. The dominant jet stream to the north, dominant jet stream to the south. Let's take a look at the teleconnections. And everything's positive. That's right. The Arctic Oscillation has increased again. It is becoming very, very strong. So, that means there's a strong polar vortex out there up in the North Pole. And as you can see, the NAO and the PNA are also positive territory. But watch the AO, it's really ramping up. And as you can see, you can watch the positive phases over here on the right side of this page here. This is weather.gov/FGZ/teleconnections. Let's take a look at the stocks in the oil and gas E&P sector. Stocks between 2 and 10 billion dollars. Have a high short float, over 10%. And as you can see, it's pretty much a sea of green, mostly. NOG, uh, Magnolia, and Matador are down, but everybody else is positive right here. Matador down behind me, 0.67%. So, recapping here, the spot November contract is up, 3.11 or 3.12 right now, up 5.4 cents or 1.76%. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below. Please hit that like and subscribe button.
