"transcript": "Good morning, natural gas. It's Monday, September 28th, it's 2026. I'm Tim Beggins, President of L Trading Company. And this is the top news for natural gas. Number one, Columbia Gas has lifted force majeure on that MPX line 100. Number two, the October futures expire today. So if you've got a position, you better get out. Number three, the EU storage level has hit 70% full with one month left in the injection season. And number four, a Nor'easter has slammed parts of the Northeast, including New Jersey. Let's turn to the expiring spot October natural gas contract. Yes, that's right. Today is expiration, it's the last day to get out. And we don't have much in the way of open interest. We'll show that in just a minute. LNG is doing well, but the weather is cooling off with fall here. Right now, currently, the October contract is trading at 3.087, down 10.9 cents or over 3.4%. And as you can see, the RSI has turned lower, but we're still above the 13 and 48-period exponential moving averages. So again, today is expiration. Be careful because there's not much here. And let's turn to the hourly chart. And as you can see, we are below the daily pivot, which came in today at 3.1730. That's right, because we've had such a big bar last Friday. This is pushing our Thursday and Friday, we're pushing out here and wide pivots today. So we're through first support here at 3.1130. That would be our near-term target because the RSI is trying to turn to the upside. Right now, we are holding above second support at 3.029. Let's take a look at the open interest. Coming into today on the NYMEX, only 2833 of open interest left in the October contract, which means every move is going to be exponentially compounded here. So watch out. This is a very, very volatile situation with very low open interest. We're going to see prices swing wildly today. Let's take a look at that force majeure on Columbia Gas Transmission. You can see it here. The MPX line was put back in service over the weekend. If they can pull up the notice here, unfortunately, it's taking a little bit of time coming up. We'll move on. Let's take a look at the grid for the ERCOT system today. Cooler temperatures are finally starting to move in this week. We're only going to be a little bit over 82,000 megawatts in the system. Right now, renewables are going to peak out over 30,000, but as you can see, wind is quite low here, around 2,000, but then it starts to pick up here and pushing up over 19,000 later today. Right now, though, because of the low wind, natural gas is picking up 51% of the fuel mix here, over 31,000 megawatts. That's good news for natural gas. And it was good news last night as well. So, natural gas is picking up, even though we're moving into cooler temperatures, natural gas is picking up a bigger percentage of the fuel mix, at least in ERCOT. And let's take at the national grid here, and things were jumping up this morning. In SPP, we're popping here over $433. The power markets were really jumping all over yesterday, PHJM, MISO, SPP. Uh, but NISO yesterday actually went minus 125. So, again, as we get into the fall, maintenance programs start to have come into effect here. It's an aging grid and aging power plants, and that means that we do have these jumps up in power prices. So, keep a careful eye on that as well. Let's take a look at the weather here, and this is the model run for the heat indices. Again, this is watch the cooler temperatures up in Canada here. As you can see, up in Calgary, there it is, 28 degrees. Cooler temperatures are coming down the Rocky Mountains into Denver here, 46 degrees. This is on the 2nd of October. And as we push forward, you can still see we've got two different markets. We still have some 90s pushing in along the coast here. Look at that, out in the Panhandle of Florida, 99 degrees. 97 here in Houston. Yuck. And as you can see, though, the cooler temperatures start to push into the Northeast and the Great Lake states here. As we move forward in the forecast period, and as we go all the way into the end of October, excuse me, the end of this uh run here, around the 10th here, there's the 11th, cooler temperatures. Look at there's Calgary again, 28 degrees. Some even cooler temperatures to the west of Calgary. And that cool temperature starts to push into the Northern Plains here. Yes, there's not many people out there in South and North Dakota. But again, this is going to be a theme here. Look at the cooler temperatures pushing into Wisconsin, pushing into Minnesota. That will continue as we move into the Great Lakes, and we get Chicago here late in the period. But again, look at this. This is a bifurcated market here. Warmer temperatures along the south for now, cooler temperatures starting to move into the Northern Plains. Let's take a look at that 6-10 day temperature outlook. And as you can see, yeah, there's some below normal temperatures. What that is, Polo. That's right. She's coming, or he. And here's the 8-14 day temperature outlook. It is that below normal temperatures we talked about here coming in from Canada. We are still seeing some rain through Texas here from Polo, and the West stays slightly above normal at that time. Here it is, the channel. This is the Super El Niño channel. This really started forming back in May here, as the market started getting more confidence in the Super El Niño. We did continue to push downward here. We did test the upper part of that trend line here just on Thursday, but we've fallen off on Friday and today. Watch out, though, the market may be starting to turn. Again, this is a crowded trade. Let's see what happens here with El Niño. And let's turn to the EU. Over 70% full, almost 71% full. Again, this is two-day lag here. Injections staying fairly strong. Let's see if they can get up to about 75 to 76% full by November the 1st. And let's take a look across the EU. And as you can see, we do have some problems. The United Kingdom here is showing at 31%, but other sources show about 35% full. That's our biggest problem here in the system. Latvia at 48, Netherlands at 57, Belgium at 61. But the big dog here, Germany, 57% full. That's the largest consumer of natural gas in Europe. So, watch out. They are betting on a warm winter. And let's take a look at Europe right now. We do see some warmer temperatures again, hovering into France, up into uh Germany here and Belgium. And of course, Spain is holding in here as well. Look at the cooler temperatures here on the east side. Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, all looking like cooler temperatures popping in, especially around October the 3rd here. That cooler weather, though, was forecast to come a little further west over the weekend. That is not the case. The cooler temperatures are moving in off the Atlantic here on the 10th before warmer temperatures show back up again in the period here, right through here is uh, I believe, Romania. And uh, of course, some of these Eastern uh European countries here staying fairly warm while cooler weather moves into the UK, parts of Spain, and France. Let's take a look at the UK here. I'm going to shift over and put myself on the other side. There we go. And as you can see right now, behind me here, we've got storage withdrawals, LNG, and Norway are the supply sources here. They are still exporting to the continent. There is going to the Netherlands. This is going to um Belgium, excuse me. This is their local industrials. This is their LDZ, so local distribution zones, utilities. There is to uh Ireland here, Moffett, and then local power stations. As you can see, though, storage injections quite low here. That's less than half of a half a thousand cubic meters. And that's not good. I I really worry about them. You can see Isle of Grain 2%, and Milford Haven, these are LNG facilities, 3.02%. Let's turn to the total gas storage. And as you can see, LNG stored is approaching 17%. Gas stored is just a little bit over 18%. Add them up, 35% there. And as you can see right now, still rough storage, which represents about 54% of total storage in the UK, is still zero. And let's take a look at the JKM here. We're going to shift back over one more. Here we go. And as you can see, as of Friday here, it was coming off because of the straight of Hormuz negotiations. The Iranians looking like they may want to talk. Why? Well, they're not getting any cargoes in. Their last cargo is now docking in China for crude oil. That means they've got nothing left for revenue coming in. So, that's why they're willing to talk, Trump says. No moss. We'll see you later. And let's take a look at Asia. As you can see right now, we've got some warmer temperatures in China before cooler weather comes through Mongolia and Siberia, pushing down into Eastern China, the Koreas, and Japan here. And then it warms back up. It warms back up because of these temperatures coming off the desert here, pushing further east. That keeps the Eastern provinces warm before cooler temperatures show back up in the forecast period here, late, but then it's a mixed picture as we get into October the 13th. India is saying relatively cool. Let's take a look at India. It has gotten a lot of rain lately. That's good news from the typhoon, excuse me, the monsoon season here. But they are still dry in the southern part of the country and parts of the Northwest. And let's take a look at the uh LNG. We're going to focus in on Kitimat up here. And that is in Canada. As you can see, this particular LNG tanker was loading up at Kitimat over the weekend, is now departing and moving through the Browning Entrance here. Let's turn to US LNG. And this is Cameron, running 1.429, basically right now, 9428. Uh, that has been steady as she goes. Still a little bit up and down in the last couple of days, ever since that outage we had about two weeks ago. And here's Freeport, about 1.8 steady as she goes. That's good news there. Needs to ramp up as cooler temperatures move in. And here's Creole Trail feeds to be passed, running just under 1.5. That's okay. And over here at Corpus Christi, now running almost 2.56. That's great news there, starting to ramp back up. Let's take a look at Venture Global. This is Calcasieu Pass. And as you can see, running 1.718. That's a little bit a little bit better than usual. And over here at Plaquemines, really running well here, 1, excuse me, 4.133 almost. That's fantastic here as they continue to expand Plaquemines. And Golden Pass, 559. That's okay. Still steady, but it's still disappointing. We need to see this start to ramp up here. Hopefully, it will do so before Train 2 comes online sometime in early 2027. And here is the Gulf of America/Mexico. As you can see, there's Florida over here. Lots of thunderstorms starting to form in the southern part of the Gulf right now, but nothing under development. And we're running out of time. And here is Fay, out there, still clicking away at 35 miles an hour for winds gusting here. She's still moving south by southwest at 7 miles an hour, and she will not die. Now to the northwest of her, 80% chance of formation in the next seven days. So, it's going to be interesting to see what happens in the Atlantic. Do we finally get a hurricane? And over here, there's the satellite picture. As you can see, over here is Rachel now. Uh, Polo is further to the north off the screen here. There is Fay in the middle here, and there is that storm system we're keeping a careful eye on. That Nor'easter off New Jersey is pushing up and hopefully out of the way. Brought a lot of rain, flooding, and coastal erosion. And let's turn to the tropical hazards. As you can see, we're keeping a careful eye on that Bay of Campeche. It is firing up on thunderstorms, but as you can see, as we get into the first and second week of October here, really not much to watch. And there is that tropical uh tropical development. There is Fay, starting to continue to watch that moving along in the south-southwest direction. And let's take a look at Polo. Because Polo is going to affect the weather in Texas. It's going to dampen things here with bringing lots of rain into the Permian region, possibly back into Dallas-Fort Worth region. It's going to be very interesting to see if it can get Dallas all the way down to San Antonio. This is a weird-looking uh system right now. Was starting to push up toward Oklahoma and Kansas. Now it's tilting backward, possibly even making it all the way back into the Pacific. Let's take a look at that weather. As you can see here, we've got uh rain chances here because of Polo pushing up through that Dallas-Fort Worth area, all the way back up here uh in uh Colorado and New Mexico. And as you can see, potentially going all the way further north, but it's slight chances there. Let's take a look at the Saharan air layer. Oops, excuse me, did we go further? Let's go back here one second. Yep. We are going to look at the Saharan air layer there. There is that plume of uh dust coming off the coast here. But as you can see, most of it's right now contained. So, not too bad here. There's just no systems to watch in the Mid-Atlantic. And here is the nuclear outages right now. We are pressing up here into 10.4 gigawatts. That's a little bit less than last year's 10.8. And as you can see, this is a nice ramp up here. We are starting to drop some of these units. Callaway here in Missouri, and of course, Cooper up in Nebraska are now going offline for maintenance and refueling. That's 100% outage. And the drought. Of course, the drought is pretty bad. And Polo may help us here. Getting some rain into New Mexico and up into Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma would be very, very helpful. But, as you can see, the drought continues to expand. And here is the global map here. And as you can see, there is that El Niño effect here, that pooling of warmer temperatures. But look, let's take a glance under the hood here. The cooler waters are continuing to expand below it. And there's the cooler waters now moving further east, north of Hawaii here. And of course, right on the northern side of this pool. So, as you can see, that may affect the jet stream as it pushes up into Canada and possibly hooks back down into the United States. So, we're going to watch the Southeast, especially late in winter for that effect. And let's take a look at El Niño. And as you can see, the model runs here are saying, yeah, we peak out here in winter and then really slide off back into neutral territory by, of course, uh, let's see, April, May, and June here, back to neutral territory. So, look at the model runs here, very, very strong going into winter here, and then quickly dissipating as we get into Feb, March, April, March, April, May, April, May, June. As you can see, really starting to ease up here on those warm uh water temperatures. Let's take a look at the stocks in the oil and gas E&P sector. Stocks between 2 and 10 billion dollars have a high short float, over 10%. And as you can see, it's a mixed bag, right? Crude oil is up, natural gas is down. That's what we would expect. CRK down 0.92, and CNX down 1.16%. Landbridge behind me up 0.84%. So again, recapping, today is expiration of the October contract. There is not much in the way of open interest. So, be very careful. It's very volatile. Get out if you have a position here. It is trading at 3.08, down 11.6 cents or over 3.63%. The RSI is turning lower, but we are still holding on the hourly chart. So, be careful. We're going to be trading November tomorrow. That's right. We're going to be trading one of the winter contracts. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
