"summary": "The natural gas market is experiencing upward momentum due to lingering extreme heat in the United States, with September approaching record temperatures. This is expected to lead to bullish storage reports for both the current and upcoming weeks. While LNG exports have seen some mixed signals, the overall outlook for natural gas prices appears positive, especially with potential colder weather shifts in Europe and Asia's increased bidding for November cargoes.",

"transcript": "Good morning, natural gas. It's Tuesday, September the 15th, 2026. I'm Tim Baggins, President of Elk Trading Company. And for the spot October natural gas contract, we're up. We're currently trading at 2.945, up 4.9 cents or over 1.69%. And as you can see, the RSI is turning higher. The 13 and 48-period moving averages would also like to cross, but we need some strong closes here today and in the next few days to get that to happen. This is all happening because we've got still some extreme heat lingering in the United States, and now September is approaching a record for this type of heat. But LNG has backed off a little bit. We've got some mixed news there. So let's take a look at the hourly chart. And here it is. We are well above the daily pivot, which came in today at 2.885. We're through first resistance at 2.922, and second resistance here at 2.9470. We've since come back a little bit here, but we'll keep a careful eye on it because the RSI is still turning higher. That's right. We may push out even further here. Our expectations for storage now are around +42 to +50. That's right. This goes up against last year's +87 and the five-year average of +74. So the marketplace is looking at lingering heat, a bullish storage report this week, a bullish storage report next week, and possibly maybe LNG coming along for the ride. We'll see. Let's take a look at the weather, or excuse me, this is the front to back spread here. This is Feb-March. This is the Widowmaker spread. That's right. This refers to the big battle between John Arnold and Brian Hunter many moons ago. But take a look, we've now pushed down into support here, which came in at the 0.786 of the entire move. This move here all the way from right here at the low at 47.6 cents, all the way to the high here at 1.145. So we're holding right now above support. So let's see what happens here. It may point to a move backward, and meaning that March, excuse me, February will gain some strength here over March. We're keeping a careful eye on February because severe weather Europe is pointing that the models may shift here colder at the back end of winter because El Niño may quickly dissipate. Let's take a look at the electric grid here in ERCOT. We're currently just under 88,000 megawatts in the grid today, with renewables still strong here, picking up nearly 48,000 megawatts here between wind and solar. Right now, solar continues to be the king in ERCOT for fuel mix here. Natural gas behind it at 20,606 right now. That's still decent news, 31% here for natural gas. But again, the extreme heat here is basically from Dallas all the way over to St. Louis and parts east. Let's take a look at the rest of the grid here. And as you can see behind me here, MISO is expected to get to $357 today. It's already gotten to $372. Hard to see here behind me, but that's where the volatility is today right now. But PJM still, we've seen a lot of volatility the last few weeks, probably going to get a little bit today. $224 is expected to be the high price here for uh, megawatt, excuse me. And right behind me, ERCOT here also fairly muted here, up to $60.54. So, let's take a look at that extreme heat risk. And you can see right now, we've got over 22.7 million people under extreme heat risk from Dallas back up towards St. Louis here, picking up parts of Missouri, Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas, even parts of, let's see, Mississippi there. And of course, most of Texas to the northeast. This continues through tomorrow here. We've got over still 22 million people under extreme heat risk here. This continues to ease up a little bit as we get into Thursday here. Some cooler temperatures are coming in the northern tier of the country. That's going to start pushing this extreme heat risk further and further to the southeast, picking up parts of uh, lower Ohio and Indiana, and then starting to dissipate here, lingering heat here from Virginia back toward Texas and parts of the Desert Southwest. So, looks like fall is knocking on the door. Look at these cooler temperatures behind that heat. Let's take a look at the model. And that's basically the same story here as we go forward. That cooler weather is starting to come into New England, parts of the Pacific Northwest, and the Upper Midwest here, as you can see. Some cooler temperatures now descending back along Appalachia here, and of course, down from the Pacific Northwest into Colorado. That means the heat is getting trapped in the South and then eventually pushed offshore. So that's good news because summer has lingered a little bit too long here in Texas. Let's take a look at the 6-10 day outlook. And as you can see, some near normal temperatures in California, actually in the desert, uh, Arizona and New Mexico, and of course, New England. So let's take a look at the 8-14 day temperature outlook. Much of the same. There is still what considered above normal temperatures in the Upper Midwest, but that will get pushed out as we get closer and closer to October. Let's take a look at Europe. And Europe is still lingering heat here in France. Get some relief here in the next few days before some more heat comes right back in. Cooler temperatures are in the interior parts of Europe. That's good news for Germany, Italy, and in other parts to the Eastern Bloc here, what we used to call it. And then we get some cooler temperatures finally arriving into Spain and France here as we get at the end of the month. But look at the heat coming back in from Germany all the way back over to Ukraine again. So, lingering weather there. Let's turn to storage here, and it's at 68.3% full in the EU. That looks like it's okay with a few more weeks to go, at least another six weeks to go. We're trying to get to 80% full. But as you can see, we're tracking below there for the entire EU. We've got some problem countries. But take a look at France. France is doing fairly well. Injections have really ramped up. That means they're going to definitely get to 80% full. They've got again, six weeks to go, and they're almost at 77%. But the story is a lot more bullish here for Germany. It's only at 55.8% full. It is not on track to get to 80% full. So, it's going to be a very interesting winter for them. Of course, Great Britain, this continues to trend sideways here. I don't know if this is a data collection problem or not, but we're stuck at 31.3% full. Not good news there. Let's take a look at the Netherlands. There is also an issue there. They're basically going to top out here below 65% full for winter. They're only at 52.5% full, and the injections are starting to ease up just a little bit in the last few days. So, definitely having a problem here in the EU for certain countries. It's really going to be a desperate situation. Let's take a look at the JKM versus the TTF for November. And as you can see, JKM is over uh TTF by 98.5 cents per mega uh per MMBtu, excuse me here. And the RSI is turning higher. That means that it is pushing out, and it looks like Asia is going to start outbidding Europe for November cargoes. Let's take a look at the weather in Asia. And as you can see right now, Tokyo 73%, or 73 degrees, excuse me. Beijing 75 degrees, and New Delhi at 86 degrees. All cooler than Houston. And as you can see from the satellite picture, we're going to see some moisture coming through here, if we can pop it up. And uh, it is definitely pushing some moisture into Southeastern Asia. All right, we're not going to get there today. And let's take a look at the models. It is cooler weather here in China, Eastern provinces there, in parts of Japan, and parts of South Korea. This continues to ease up and back and forth with some warmer temperatures here late in the forecast period around the 20th. There are some warm temperatures there on the 23rd. So that picks up Eastern China, the Koreas, and parts of Japan. And that continues for a few more days before cooler weather starts to push even that out a little bit. And then it starts to look like it's mixed at the end of the month here on the 29th. Cooler in the Koreas, cooler in India, but of course, it looks a little bit warmer in Japan and parts of Eastern China. So, it's a mixed bag. Let's take a look at the LNG for the globe here. This is Ras Laffan. There is a tanker again, just docked there at Ras Laffan. It's not docked at one of the LNG uh, loading facilities. So it's just docked there for maybe for supplies or crew replenishment. But the Strait of Hormuz is relatively quiet. Either the transponders are off or shipping is just not getting through. So, let's take a look at the US. And here's some bad news. Cameron LNG, 1.256. There's nothing out on notices, critical notices. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like any maintenance here. We're going to keep a careful eye on it, but it's pulling less from Tennessee and from TETCO. So, we'll keep an eye on it, see if this changes overnight or in the next cycle. Here is Freeport, and it's doing well at 1.842. Steady as she goes there. That's good news. Here is Creole Trail, one of the pipelines that feeds Sabine Pass. That's steady as she goes as well, 1.4. And here is obviously Corpus Christi doing very, very well, over 2.7 BCF. That's fantastic news there. Venture Global, this Calcasieu Pass, steady as she goes, pretty much 1.646. That's good news there. Plaquemines running 3.878. So it's a little bit down here on Plaquemines. Again, the capacity has been raised on the operating capacity side. So, that looks a little bit like it's got too much capacity, but in fact, it's really doing quite well. So, it's just eased up overnight. And here is Golden Pass. 500,945 MMBtus. Don't know what this pokey puppy's waiting for, but maybe the cooler temperatures are coming along and help it push along to 800 to 850,000 MMBtus, the capacity of Train 1. We'll see, but right now, it's still moving along. Let's take a look at the tropics. And we do have a system here. It is a 40% chance of cyclone development in the next seven days. And if it forms into a hurricane, it would be called Fay. That's right, F-A-Y. And let's take a look at the water temperatures. And they are hot. They're 85 degrees out here, and in the Gulf, it's up to 87 degrees. So, it's very, very warm temperatures here. Lots of energy to push up a storm here into some really dangerous territory. But let's take a look at where uh, the Gulf is right now. As you can see, fairly quiet across the Gulf of America and Mexico. And out here, there it is, right in the center here, around 50 degrees west. It is possible Fay. We'll see if that develops here in the next few days. It's got this big front it's got to kind of get through here. And of course, there is still some dust out there. And there is that tropical hazards. That is picking up Fay here around the 23rd to 29th. So it's a slow-moving system here pushing eastward, uh, excuse me, westward at this stage. And here is the plume of dust from the Saharan air layer. And as you can see, more of it's coming back off the coast here. Some of it is still pushing into Mexico, Southern Texas, actually, and across much of the Caribbean south of Cuba. So, there's Fay out here. As you can see, it's just wrapping around that storm system. We'll see if that inhibits any further development. And lastly, here we got some activity in the Indonesia space here. Again, this was a big earthquake three days ago, 6.5. That volcano is around here, where the E and the R are for Tangerang. So we got to keep a careful eye on this because it is very close to the capital city of Jakarta. And the sea of green here for EMP stocks in the oil and gas sector. Stocks between $2 and $10 billion have a high short float over 10%. And everything right behind me, even Landbridge here, up 1.19%. Matador up 2.28% today. It is good news because natural gas continues to push up a little bit here. Currently right now for the October contract, we're currently trading at 2.9240, up 2.8 cents or 0.97%. Again, this is uh, storage week is on storage is on Thursday. Expectations +42 to +50. That's bullish versus last year, bullish versus the five-year average. It's also going to be a bullish report next week as well. Let's see if we can continue the momentum. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below. Please hit that like and subscribe button.
