"summary": "The natural gas market is currently experiencing downward pressure, with October futures trading lower due to a loss of weather-driven demand past mid-September and high US production, potentially reaching 114 BCF per day. However, upcoming storage reports are expected to be bullish relative to historical averages, which could tighten the supply-demand balance. Globally, Europe faces significant challenges in filling its gas storage, with a potential bidding war for spot LNG this winter, especially given disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz affecting Qatari exports.",

"transcript": "Good morning, Natural Gas. It's Wednesday, September the 9th, 2026. I'm Tim Beggins, President of Elk Trading Company. And for the spot October Natural Gas contract, we're down. We're currently trading at 2.8410, down 7.5 cents or over 2.5%. And as you can see, we're below the 13 and 48-period exponential moving averages, and the RSI has turned lower. Why? Well, we're losing some weather out past September the 15th, and production appears to be as high as 114 BCF per day. Let's turn to the hourly chart. And as you can see right now, we're well below the daily pivot, which came in at 2.9310. We are right around first support here at 2.8480. We're just below that right now. The RSI is in oversold conditions. So, let's see if this thing can stabilize. Why? Because tomorrow is storage day. Expectations, NGI says +34. That goes up against last year's +69, the five-year average +52. So this week and next week, we'll have bullish storage reports relative to some of the averages. That's good news to tighten up some of the supply and demand situation, as long as production doesn't keep ramping up. Why is production possibly ramping up? Well, Hu Brinson intrastate pipeline in Texas may be pulling in some more volumes from the Permian. Remember, it came online in June. So, it's been ramping up as we go. First phase, up to 1.5 BCF a day. But, we'll see if that's actually going to flow. We're going to have to take a look at some of the intrastate pipes to see what's flowing from that Hu Brinson pipeline into the intrastates, because intrastate pipelines don't show volumes. Let's take a look at the grid here in ERCOT. We are expected to be just under 86,000 megawatts today. And renewables are quite low here at 36,000 peak. Why? Because wind bottoms out here at over 3,000 megawatts. That's pretty low. As a result, natural gas is picking up over 31,000 megawatts in the grid right now. That's almost 47% of the fuel mix. That's good news for natural gas. And let's take a look at the national grid here. We did see some volatility yesterday in both MISO and PJM. Again, PJM is all over the map lately. MISO behind me here, some volatility today. It is expected to get as high as $181. With natural gas pushing more of the fuel mix, ERCOT is expected to be over $100. And as you can see, PJM is going to be about $141. So, there is still some volatility. Also, SPP is about $120. So, there is still some lingering summer heat here in places like MISO, SPP. But PJM, yes, there is some heat up there, but it has been just very, very volatile. We'll keep a careful eye on NYISO because the US-Canadian trade war, which just kicked off, the Ontario, um, Premier, Mr. Ford, has threatened to cut off supplies of power into New York and Michigan. So, we'll keep a careful eye on that. Here we go again. Let's take a look at the heat risk map here. And as you can see right now, we've got over 14 million people in extreme heat risk, mainly in Texas and Oklahoma. Yes, it's still ungodly hot here. Unfortunately, it is staying that way for at least the next week here. We are starting to see cooler temperatures coming into the upper plains, here parts of the Pacific Northwest, and New England. So, let's take a look tomorrow. We're looking similar, but it is starting to ease up here on the extremes. The uh, the interior west, as you can see, in the Southwest, still heating up here tomorrow into Friday. Still very, very warm in Texas. Texas will be the fortress of this heat going forward. You can tell it's going to stay for a while. There's September the 15th. More cold is coming through here in the upper parts of the United States and New England. So, let's take a look at the weather model past the 15th here. And as you can see, it's just the heat in Texas that remains here as we go further and further into toward the end of the month here. So, there it is. There's in the 90s there. We're going to see just triple digits here briefly along the coast. Lovely here in Houston, 102. And as you can see, as we go into the very end here, the hundreds are stuck in Houston, all the way back up into Baton Rouge. So, doesn't look like much is holding on. You can see the cooler weather coming into the Pacific Northwest here. That's going to be something we'll keep a careful eye on because we need some of this rain in the interior west. Let's take a look at the 6-10 day temperature outlook. And there it is. You can see the above normals are locked into Texas, all the way back up into North Carolina on the 6-10 day. We are seeing below normal temperatures hitting into Montana and the Dakotas. This continues, the Great Lakes up there for the 8-14 day temperature. And as you can see, below normal temperatures for New England. The heat is stuck in South Texas and Florida along the coast here back toward Louisiana and parts of the interior Southwest. Let's take a look at Europe. Yep, it's hot. It's still staying hot here for a day, and then it starts to cool off before the heat returns yet again. There's the 13th. And it starts to warm up all the way through the 15th here, 16th. We start seeing some cooler temperatures coming into Germany, Poland, and parts of the interior uh, Eastern Europe here, but there's some warmer temperatures coming right back into France here late in the forecast before 22nd. There is some cooler temperatures pushing into the UK and Ireland. There it is. It's like a curtain. Look at that temperature variation right there between Northern France being cooler and Southern France being warmer on the 23rd of September. Let's take a look at some of the spreads here. And this is the JKM spread, Japan Korea marker, versus the TTF in US dollars per MMBTU. And for October, yeah, TTF is over. Why? They're panicking. They've got less than two months to get up to 70, oh, excuse me, 80%. That was their target. Good luck with that. They're going to be below 77%, probably around 75% as a total for the EU. But for October, they're still pulling in cargos as fast as they can. But guess what happens in November? You guessed it. It's reversed. JKM is over by a dollar. That's right. That's that shipping arb right there. And that means that Europe is going to have to kick in to get more cargos starting November the 1st. They're going to have to be a bidding war. And with the US and Iran shooting each other, uh, missiles at each other, I should say, sinking tankers, the Strait of Hormuz is closed, probably for the rest of the year, if we're lucky. And that means that there is going to be a bidding war for spot LNG this winter. Let's take a look at the EU as a whole. It's doing fairly well. It is still got two months to go. Lucky if it gets to 75% full. Why? Because we've got some problems. Belgium, 58%. As you can see right there. Germany, only 55%. That's the largest consumer in Europe. France is doing better at 74%. But Latvia, 46%. Netherlands at 50% with two, less than two months to go. And of course, our big problem, the United Kingdom at 31.3% full. Big, big problem. That has been flat for the last few days. We don't know if it's a data collection problem, but they are going to be in some serious trouble this winter. And let's take a look at the weather here. And this is the temperatures. Tokyo, 70 degrees right now. Beijing at 64. New Delhi at 84. Hong Kong at 80 degrees. Houston is warmer than all of them. Let's take a look at the weather in Asia. And it is cooler weather coming through here for Eastern China, Japan, and Korea's. There are some warmer temperatures that do show up later in the forecast period. Here September the 14th. So above Shanghai, back to Beijing, a little warmer as we go through the forecast here before cooler weather starts to push back in again around the 22nd, pushing this heat off the coast. That's good news there for Asia. We are transitioning from summer into fall. And let's take a look at the LNG. And there's the Strait of Hormuz. Very little is moving through, at least with their transponders on. There is nothing loading at Ras Laffan. These are the LNG terminals on the north side. These 10 terminals here. Nothing is loading right now. That's not good news for Qatar. Looks like Qatar is offline for the rest of this year. If they can get through the strait, it's going to be with their transponders off and an escort from the US Navy. Let's take a look at the US LNG because yeah, Europe and Asia are going to be counting on it. And here is Cameron, 1.517. That's great news there, steady as she goes. Here's Freeport, sitting around 1.825. Still needs to ramp up a little bit. That's good news there. It is steady. This is Creole Trail, feeds Sabine Pass. Over 300,000 still left in capacity there. It's steady, but it still pulls in gas from other pipelines into Sabine Pass. So, there is still some capacity on Creole Trail. We'll see as the weather cools if that's picked up. And here is Corpus Christi. It is almost at nameplate capacity, just running over 2.65 out of 2.75 BCF. Great news there. How about Venture Global? This is Calcasieu Pass. Steady as she goes. And over at Plaquemines, over nameplate capacity, 4 BCF. We need it. And here is Golden Pass, over 557,000. That's good news there. Still needs to ramp up a little bit. It still has capacity up to 800, to 850,000 for Train 1. Train 2 is supposed to be mechanically complete by the end of the year. And Europe and Asia are going to be counting on it. Let's take a look at the tropics for the US. And that's right. Nothing's expected over the next seven days. The peak of the Atlantic hurricane season is this Friday, September the 11th. And let's take a look at the US Gulf. There is some activity here, some storm activity in the Bay of Campeche. We'll keep a careful eye on that right now, but otherwise, fairly calm. How about over in the Mid-Atlantic? Yep, there is some storms coming off the coast here. We're going to keep a close eye on this. This is some good energy here. But, of course, there is nothing expected on the tropical hazard outlook. It is over here outside of Florida. So going back again, oh, there's nothing there right now. Let's take a look. What else could inhibit it? You got it. Mike Tyson here, the Saharan Air Layer or dust is massive plume. It is almost across the entire Atlantic at this point. This is going to inhibit any storm development. And let's take a look at the volcano. That's right. Anak Krakatau. That's the son of Krakatau. And it is still pushing out a lot of smoke and particulate matter. Though some airports in the area around Jakarta were reopened. We'll keep a careful eye on this to see how it develops. Maybe it's just blowing off a little steam. And let's take a look at the stocks. Stocks in the oil and gas E&P sector, stocks between $2 and $10 billion, have a high short float, over 10%.
