"summary": "The video provides a daily natural gas market update, noting a downtrend in the spot October contract and a struggle to break the $3 strike. It discusses various weather forecasts, including a potential cold February in the US due to El Niño, and current heat risks in the South. LNG exports are steady, but European and UK storage levels are concerning, with the UK facing a 'hand-to-mouth' winter. Energy equities are showing positive movement despite broader market declines.",

"transcript": "Good morning, natural gas. It's Tuesday, September the 8th, 2026. I'm Tim Beggins, President of Elk Trading Company. And for the spot October natural gas contract, we're down. We're currently training at 2.922, down 5.3 cents or almost 2%. And as you can see, we're trending along this green line here, all the way from September, excuse me, August the 7th here. The 13 and 48 period exponential moving averages have not crossed to the upside yet. So we're limited to getting to the $3 strike. Unfortunately, we tried overnight and just failed again. So the marketplace is looking at it going, well, it's summer's almost over, right? Well, not in the South. But LNG is also kicking in. That's good news there. But the northern tiers of the country, the Upper Midwest, the Pacific Northwest, and the Great Lakes are all starting to cool down. Let's take a look. The RSI here is trying to turn lower. So we'll see if it breaks down below the 13 period exponential moving average, which comes in at 2.8970. Close below there, it's pretty negative. Let's take a look at the hourly chart. And there is the daily pivot for today, which came in at 2.9540 here. We are testing right now first support at 2.9230. We're right there. We're just one tick below it. The RSI though is in oversold condition. So, could not push back over first resistance, which came in at $3.07. When we're now starting to try and make a run for first support. So, we're waffling back and forth around the pivot. Let's take a look at the options market. Just maybe it could give us a bit of a clue. And there it is. The $3 strike here has the second most high open interest here. The $4 strike has the highest open interest, but then at the $3 strike, we've got over 31,774. So, there is some upside here if we can push through that $3 strike. We did get above it overnight, but we haven't triggered any stops here. So, unfortunately, we're lacking that momentum. Let us take a look at the Jan versus October. And that last gap down to 92.7, it was hit exactly on the money right there. 92.7 was the low last week. So, that was great news there to finally fill the last gap. And as you can see, the RSI is in extreme oversold condition. Right now, we're currently ticking up up 2.3 cents here. A little bit of profit taking. So, both gaps on the downside were filled. So, now is a good time to possibly cover that position. What else is going on? Let's take a look at February. And we pointed this out. Severe weather Europe has noted that February could be cold in the United States. That's right, cold. Especially in the South Central, Southeastern part of the country. So, let's take a look. We've been going sideways now for two weeks. We've not been able to break down below this 3.53 and a half level. And the RSI is trying to climb to the upside. So, we've got convergence here, possibly on the February contract. Don't have a buy signal yet, but let's keep a close eye on this particular contract. And here is what happens here in El Niño years. These are the two big El Niño years in the last 30 something years. And it is been 1997 and 2015. What happens? Well, we're above normal in the northern tier of the country, especially North Dakota, all the way down through the Great Lakes. And as you can see, that could be anywhere from 4 to 6 degrees above the long-term average. That also possibly includes some warmer temperatures out here below the 37th parallel. So, that includes parts of Arkansas, Louisiana, parts of Tennessee, all the way even to the Carolinas and possibly even down to Florida. So, that's what the market's focused in on. But, remember, we still have the opportunity for some colder weather, especially on the backside of this super El Niño. The models are saying, hey, it could really jump down quickly here. And then possibly we could get some very cool temperatures here, especially in the South Central and South region. Let's take a look at the grid for ERCOT. And as you can see right now, today, we are expected to be just over 87,000 megawatts. Renewables here are over 38,000 right now. But natural gas right here this morning is doing fairly well, picking up 44.5% of the fuel mix here. Solar behind it at 27,000. So, this is a good day for natural gas to get out of the gate. That's good for possible demand as we go forward because we are still sitting in some really above normal temperatures. Yesterday, heat index here in Houston, 106. Let's take a look at the national grid. And there we go again. We are going to have a little problem there. But, here we go. We've got some volatility right behind me. MISO here hitting $378 this morning. So, uh, some good volatility there. NYISO, New, uh, New York State here. But you can see ERCOT right now today, only getting to about $87 even with the heat. And here's PJM. They had some volatility yesterday. That continues, but they're only expected to get about $114. Let's take a look at the extreme heat risk map here. And as you can see right now, we've got 13.2 million people under extreme heat risk from Texas back up into Kansas and towards St. Louis. This dissipates as we go through the week here. It comes down, down here to 6 and a half million people. You could see the heat is confined below the 37th parallel. So, that means that we are, this is the top here of Arizona and New Mexico. Just draw a line straight across over toward North Carolina. As you can see, moderate to major to extreme heat risk is confined basically underneath that parallel. And that continues as we go forward into, uh, September the 14th. Let's see where the models take us out for. And as you can see, this is from the 15th here. We'll see triple digit heat indices. That continues at least through the end of the forecast period here. But then it's really at the end here, going into the late September, the third week of September, we are looking at it confined really from Houston basically back up into Virginia in the 90s. Really, we lose the triple digits. So, here comes fall. Yes, it's Labor Day. And here's the 6 to 10 day temperature outlook. And there's that above normal temperature showing up here in the Upper Plains. This is Montana here. This is North Dakota. And as you can see, near normal temperatures along the Pacific Northwest and parts of New England. This continues in the 8 to 14 day temperature outlook. As you can see, here is that near normal, but then there's below normal temperatures, Great Lakes, up in New England. Good time to go see the trees soon. And here is, let's take a look at, uh, Europe here. And it is still sweltering. It is still above normal temperatures. Cooler weather comes in on tomorrow here, Wednesday. That's good news for a while. But then the heat returns. And we can start seeing some warmer temperatures coming back in on Monday here, into Tuesday and Wednesday. And then it starts to bake. It starts to bake on the 19th here. There's the 20th. There's the 21st. And there is the 22nd. That is above normal temperatures encompassing all of France, parts of Belgium, and Germany. So, this is unusual here. Late summer heat. And here is the EU storage. 66.9% full. That's good news overall. That's still 13% below where it was about last year. And as you can see, injections are staying strong. This is a two-day lag. Just keep that in mind. But our big problem child is still the UK. 31.3%. Uh, it looks like it's gone flat here for the next last few days. I'm not sure it's being picked up. But again, we have a big problem here in the UK. Ormen Lange field is at 40% all the way through February. They have no gas in Rough storage because the spreads have not paid for it. And so, this is a big, big problem. So, hand to mouth through the entire winter. Good luck. And here is the weather out in Asia. As you can see, there is some storm activity across Southeast Asia, some coming into, uh, India here. And you could see some weather coming into Japan. So, let's take a look at the temperatures here. And it is fairly cool. Tokyo, 80 degrees. Beijing, 64. So, that is that cool weather right there. Hong Kong, 80 degrees as well. And New Delhi, 84. That's cooler than Houston. Hmm. Let's take a look at the Asian market here for the anomalies. As you can see, that cooler weather is showing up on the maps here. Northern tier of China, parts of India here are cooling down as well. There it is on Friday. Cooler temperatures moving into parts of the Koreas here. And then late in the forecast, here comes the 18th. Some warmer temperatures showing back up between Shanghai and the capital city of Beijing. But overall, right here at the end of the forecast map, cooler temperatures across India, cooler temperatures across Southeastern China, cooler temperatures in the Koreas and Japan. So, let's take a look at the LNG globally. Here is Qatar. Nothing is loading at Ras Laffan, unfortunately. We've just got some chemical oil tankers there. But this particular LNG tanker here has transited the Strait of Hormuz, fully loaded from Qatar. That's right. She went through the straight yesterday. Pretty good news there. Hopefully, that continues going forward because Europe and especially Asia could use the LNG cargoes. Let's turn to the US. And here is Cameron LNG. 1.528, basically. That's fantastic news. Steady as she goes. Freeport also doing well here. Basically, about 1.85. That's good news. Steady there as well after maintenance. How about, uh, this is Creole Trail that feeds, uh, Sabine Pass here. Sorry, I tripped over there. And it is running at about 1.325. That's also steady as she goes there. They're still has some upside if they need it. And here is Corpus Christi, running almost at full nameplate capacity at 2.67 BCF. That's fantastic news there. Here it is, uh, Calcasieu Pass. That is still, you know, open capacity there for expansion, but it is running steady at 1.62. And here is Plaquemines, over nameplate capacity again, running 3.995. Fantastic there. Golden Pass. There's fairly good news there. 587,000 MMBtu. Still has not quite ramped up to full capacity here for Train 1. And Train 2 is supposed to be mechanically complete by the end of the year. But we've only got a few months left. And if Train 1 is any indication, I would expect a delay. Let's take a look at the tropics. There is no tropical activity expected for the next seven days from the, uh, NOAA here. But, as you can see, the Gulf of America/Mexico, it is fairly quiet. There is some activity here along the Mexican coast and off here, Florida. But overall, nothing developing there. Here is the bigger picture. There is the Atlantic. There are some storm systems here that we're going to keep a careful eye on as they come off the coast and start to develop. But, you guessed it. There is some activity expected through September 22nd. But what might inhibit it? Rock'em Sock'em Robots. That's what. The Saharan Air Layer is about to knock them out. This is a huge plume. I don't know how any storm could develop in the Atlantic this year if this continues. And let's take a look at the, uh, this is severe weather Europe. I want to give a look here for snowfall. That's right, Dec, Jan, and February. And this compares it to the long-run averages here. Excuse me, take that off here. And as you can see, with a strong El Niño, possibly super El Niño, the lower southern tier becomes wetter and more active, cooler as well, which means we can get more snow. And that's particularly important. As you can see, up here in Appalachia, there's some very big, uh, snow expected here. As you can see, 8 inches, uh, greater than the average here. And that is Marcellus right here, Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, parts of Ohio, is the Utica. And over here in the Permian is where we see the, uh, potential for just normal right now at this stage. That's the average for Dec, Jan, and February. But as it gets late in the forecast, January in particular, February, you can start seeing more snow in this particular area. What else is going on? Well, we've got a volcanic eruption. That's right, Krakatoa. Actually, the son of Krakatoa. And it's right here. It has pushed up a lot of, um, material here, smoke and hazardous particles. And this is sitting just 100 miles away from the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta. Why do we keep an eye on this? Because when this, uh, particular volcano blew up originally in 1883, it was the loudest recorded sound ever. And it blew out, uh, 70% of its physical mass into the ocean here. That tsunami that was created killed over 36,000 people. It also put up enough smoke and particulate matter here that it cooled the Earth by at least one degree. So, we are keeping an eye on this particular volcano. Doesn't look like it's going to be as dramatic, but you never know. We'll keep an eye on it. How about the stocks? Well, we've got a new, uh, new stock here on the our list here. That is Landbridge, LB. And it is currently up 1.73% today. It is a sea of green despite the equity markets coming down. Energy equities are moving up. As you can see behind me, also Matador up 3.17%. That's good news there for energy stocks. And let's recap again for the spot October natural gas contract. We're down. We're currently trading at 2.908, down 6.7 cents or 2.25%. The RSI is trying to turn to the downside. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
