"transcript": "Good morning, natural gas. It's Wednesday, September the 2nd, 2026. I'm Tim Beggins, President of Elk Trading Company. And for the spot October natural gas contract, we're up. We're currently trading at 2.9460, up 4.2 cents, or almost 1 1/2%. And as you can see, we're now above the 48-period exponential moving average. The RSI has turned to the upside. We had a nice reversal yesterday. That's good news for the market. What's going on? Well, weather is still here, and LNG is starting to kick into another gear. Let's take a look at the hourly chart. And here it is. We are above the daily pivot, which came in today at 2.903. The RSI is turning to the upside. We've tested resistance here at 2.9560. We're almost because we got this high as 2.9520 here in last hour. But as you can see, we are trying to make a case for pushing out toward $3 here. That would be impressive. So, what's going on for storage? Well, tomorrow, storage expectations around +30 BCF. That goes up against last year's +50 BCF, and the five-year average, +37. So bullish on both counts. Let's take a look at what could fuel the market to the upside. And this is the recent Commitment of Traders report, and it shows right here, managed money here, it has been covering its short position. That's down 24,521. As you can see, it is still negative. It is still uh on the short side. So there is still fuel, according to the latest uh Commitment of Traders report, to the upside. We may see $3 if we're lucky. And let's take a look at the front to back spreads, which yesterday started to come up a little bit, up four ticks. Today, we're up just four, uh up a penny right now. Currently, the RSI is trying to turn to the upside. We are currently at 1.0220. So, the downside gap still remains here at 92.7 cents. We may not get that, but again, right now, there is some profit taking on this spread, and we're looking to see if it starts to climb back toward that 1.25. Let's take a look at the grid. This is ERCOT, and Edward has cooled things down here in Texas, especially around Houston. And we're right now going to be below 87,000 megawatts. Renewables though, just under 37,000 megawatts. You can see wind is quite low. It is going to be less than 3,000 megawatts at its low around 1 PM this afternoon. And as you can see right now, natural gas is picking up 45% of the fuel mix in ERCOT. That's good news. It is king of the hill right now. It is eclipsing even solar at 22,686. So, that's great news there. Let's take a look at the national grid, and there is ERCOT right here. As you can see, it is expected to get up to about $67. Behind me, MISO, up to 341. Yes, there's some volatility here. Still some extreme heat risk here in MISO. PJM is going to be very hot today, almost 450. So that's incredible there. As you can see, volatility early this morning upwards of 306 here this morning. That was at 6 AM. So, again, we're seeing plenty of volatility in MISO, PJM, and now even ERCOT. SPP relatively calm, only getting up to about 175. And here is the heat risk map here. And as you can see, there is extreme heat risk today for over 32 million people. That includes parts of uh Chicago, St. Louis, all the way down into Texas here, and North Carolina. As we go forward, we could see almost 59 million people. This is extreme heat risk here. 60 million under major heat risk. This continues going into Friday. Saturday dissipates a little bit here, still encompassing St. Louis and parts of Texas. And then again, it starts easing off as we get into next week. But look, there is the heat dome right there. There it is, centered on Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, all the way up to Iowa and back toward uh Florida. And let's take a look at the model run here from the 9th going forward here. As you can see, triple-digit temperatures still encompassing the South here, especially Texas over toward the Carolinas, going through the forecast period. But look at the cool weather right behind it here. Look at this cold front coming down through the mid-section of the country here, cooling off the Pacific Northwest. As we get into the forecast map, one last triple digits up in Connecticut on the 15th on the models here. We'll see if that happens. 106 in Virginia, 100 in Dallas, and 104 down, 104 in uh Jacksonville, Florida. So, we'll see if fall is in the picture here as we get into the second and third week of September. There it is. That's cooler weather coming in right in the back heels of this heat dome. So, let's take a look at the 6-10 day outlook. And as you can see, there's the heat dome, centered from Texas all the way back over toward Georgia, and all the way up as far north as Missouri and parts of Illinois. There is the 8-14 day temperature. There's that cooler weather coming into the upper Midwest in Pacific Northwest and parts of New England. So, the heat stays in the South, but fall is making an appearance in the northern part of the country. Let's take a look at the UK because UK prices are now pushing out to 2023 highs here. As you can see, we're up another 2% today. This is in pence per therm. So, we're making new highs. This is for the October contract. There is panic starting to set in in the UK because storage is just too far behind. Let's take a look at the weather here. And there is still some warmer temperatures coming in again for France here, coming in on the 4th here, now pushing into the 5th. Some very, very warm temperatures, Spain and parts of France, especially South and Southeast. This pushes north into Southern Germany, into Italy, all the way back over toward Greece here. As you can see, the heat dome then centers all the way back over toward Romania here, and parts of Eastern Europe. And then some cooler weather starts to come in before we get another cold front, uh excuse me, another warm front coming through into France here on the 14th. So, some heat, then cool, then then heat again. So, looks like fall is coming in on the Eastern provinces here, the Eastern parts of Europe here, uh Scandinavia, but unfortunately for France and Spain, the UK and Ireland, still some warm temperatures ahead. Let's take a look at the EU, and it's 65.4% full. And as you can see, they're just crawling along. And this is 77.3% was the minimum here. As we can see for the uh the outlook here. But right now, they're probably only going to get maybe toward 75% full if they continue at full throttle. But let's see what happens here in Great Britain. And as you can see right now, 31.3% full. I don't understand it. Injections are continuing to fall off. Not good. Not good at all. Let's take a look at the Eastern uh Asian picture here. We do have a tropical depression here coming onshore northeast of Hong Kong. Monsoon weather coming into India here, and parts of Southeast Asia. And as you can see, some cooler weather coming into Japan and the Koreas as a result. Let's take a look at that tropical depression. There she is coming onshore. Uh actually, he is coming onshore. This is Taiwan here. As you can see, Hong Kong down here. So, uh down here, excuse me. This is some cooler weather for Eastern provinces of China for the next few days. And as you can see, there is the uh excuse me, there is the cooler temperatures coming onshore. And that cooler weather is pushing inland toward Sichuan. And there's still some warmer temperatures here around Beijing, north of Shanghai. Shanghai here, pushing up. As you can see, some warmer temperatures are lingering around, but then cooler weather comes back in before late in the forecast period, we get some more warmer temperatures. But overall, here's September 16th. Cooler weather in Japan, cooler weather in the Koreas, cooler weather in parts of India, cooler weather in Eastern Southern China. Let's take a look at the LNG. This is Ras Laffan. Yes, we've got two vessels loading here at Ras Laffan. Again, LNG berths here are on the northern side of the port. There are 10 berths here. So everything over here is just chemical tankers or crude oil tankers and tugs. The LNG berths are on the northern side of the port. Let's take a look at the US LNG. Here's Cameron 1.5. That's fantastic news there. Now, Freeport has eased up a little bit, back to 1.8. And here is Calcasieu, excuse me, this is Creole Trail. This is for Sabine Pass. Running nicely here at 1.26. So, it still has some room for growth here in the next few days, waiting probably for the storm to pass. And here is Corpus Christi, almost up at nameplate capacity. Only 19,000 open capacity there. That is fantastic news. The expansion has been complete. And here is Calcasieu Pass. Still, there is still some capacity, obviously, to grow into this, running just under 1.59. Here is Plaquemines, running 4 BCF over nameplate capacity. So, good news there. But Golden Pass, I don't understand. It's still running 365,000 right now. Not great news here for Train 1. It should have ramped up by now. And unfortunately, that means it's probably waiting for some cooler temperatures. Nothing is loading at Golden Pass yet. And here is Edward. And Edward is to my east. That's right. It came close, but no cigar. We only got two rain bands. It's been pretty pretty mild so far. Let's take a look at the water temperatures in the Gulf. Yep, everything is hot, hot, hot. Bathwater out there in the Gulf. Here is Edward. There is where I live. Unfortunately, the rain is all the way up there. We didn't get too much uh rain here north of Houston. And here's the bigger picture. We do have some some activity here in the Mid-Atlantic finally. So, we're going to take a careful look at that over the next few weeks because take a look. There is some potential here in the Mid-Atlantic over the period from September the 9th all the way through the 22nd. So, that's good news there. But it still has to contend with the Saharan Air Layer. As you can see, dust is continuing to come off the coast, and that's going to inhibit storm development. It's pretty clear now with Edward pushing out most of the dust in the Gulf. And that's good news there, but there is still some remnants here coming into the Caribbean. Again, uh there's some stocks here for the oil and gas EMP sector. Stocks between 2 and 10 billion dollars have a high short float, over 10%. And as you can see, it's a mixed bag today. Behind me, CNX down 0.15% here. So, right now, everything is kind of mixed here in the oil and gas sector. And the reason why? Well, natural gas is up, but crude oil is actually down. And right now, recapping here for the spot October natural gas contract, we're currently trading at 2.9440, up 4 cents or 1.38%. We're above the 48-period exponential moving average. The RSI is positive. So, our path of least resistance is to the upside. Let's see if we can hit the $3 print with storage tomorrow. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
